Chapter 27 is done

And with that chapter, my novel now tops 70,000 words. This chapter ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, so I can hardly wait to find out what happens next. Oh, wait -- I know what happens next. Good thing, too, or I'd have a lot of trouble starting the next chapter.

Be first on your block to own this magnificent book!

Amazon is now shipping All the Rage This Year, which is the anthology containing my story "The Man Who Moved the Moon." That means local bookstores will probably have it soon. (Hey, that rhymes!) "The Man Who Moved the Moon" is probably my favorite of the three stories I've sold, because it's more light-hearted than the other two. I wrote... read more »

The Next September 11

I don't generally post about politics on this blog, but September 11 seems an appropriate time. Today is the third anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, but I want to talk about the next September 11. I don't mean the fourth anniversary, and I don't quite mean the next major terrorist attack on the United States. I mean the... read more »

And thus endeth Part II

I've finished chapter 25, which is also the end of Part II of my novel. It's a short chapter, just over 1200 words.

Chapter 24 is done

I've finished chapter 24, which ended up a little over 2000 words. That definitely seems to be my natural chapter length.

Incidentally…

I have now added more words to my novel over the past 12 days than during the entire rest of this year.

Chapter 23 is done

It's only 1561 words, so it's one of my shorter chapters. I may have left out too much.

Chapter 22 is done

I just finished chapter 22. However, I have noticed a slight problem. In looking at my outline, I have 40 chapters left. The natural length of my chapters seems to be about 2000 words. (The prologue is much longer, and there are occasional long chapters, but half the chapters so far are 2000 words, plus or minus 250.) Now, I... read more »
