BYU vs. New Mexico

Last week, I was satisfied despite the loss. This week, if BYU loses, I will be very disappointed. The oddsmakers' line is BYU by less than 3 points. My prediction: BYU 30, New Mexico 10. Musicians or writers?

For a football team's offensive line, would you rather have musicians or writers? Writers, of course. Because writers block. OK, so I'm have trouble with my novel. I've managed a little other writing ove the past few weeks, but every time I think about working on the novel, I tense up. I feel like what I want to write isn't... read more »

Had a little fun writing some Javascript today. Click this button: Assuming your browser is compatible, the starfield in the background should move depending on your mouse movements. Cool, huh? However, the show was still fun to watch,... read more »

I believe they only promoted it as "Enterprise" before. The episode was enjoyable.... read more »

Someone mentioned plans to write a story involving a pregnant centaur and a telepath. Someone else said that sounded like the start of a joke: "A pregnant centaur and a telepath... read more »

Will we ever get into space?

Science fiction author Spider Robinson has written a column in which he despairs about the future of space travel (and more.) I left it deeply concerned for the future -- not merely of my chosen genre or my chosen country, but my species. ... Incredibly, young people no longer find the real future exciting. They no longer find science admirable.... read more »

Deep Financial Problems

Creative writing class assignment: Show someone with deep financial problems. Jefferson moved the cursor down the column of numbers in the spreadsheet, double-checking every one against the paper statements from his banks and brokers. Then he sighed and leaned back in his leather swivel-chair. There was no mistake. He was even worse off than he had been a month ago.... read more »
