I'd heard this information through unofficial channels, but I didn't want to blog it until it was confirmed. My science-fiction short story "The Man Who Moved the Moon" is one of the finalists for the Phobos Fiction Contest. From the twenty-five finalists, they will select twelve winners. Even if I don't win, I'm very excited to have gotten this far.

BYU, the Cowboys, and my fantasy football team all lost this week. I think the less that is said about it, the better.

At 3-6, Notre Dame's record this year is worse than BYU's. USC beat Notre Dame worse than they beat BYU. If BYU were having even an average year, I'd be hopeful of BYU's prospects of beating the Fighting Irish. But this is nowhere near an average year.
