Last night I saw the movie version of The Phantom of the Opera. I liked it. In fact, I think the plot was easier to follow in the movie than I recall it being in the stage version. I think the singing compares pretty well to the Michael Crawford/Sarah Brightman version — a little better at some points (Heresy to some, I know), a little worse on others.
Overall, I say that if you liked the stage version you will probably like the movie (unless you’re the type to insist that Condorman is the one true Phantom.)
