A diversion of resources

Posted .

Those of you who are paying close attention may have noticed that the word counter showing my novel progress has been stuck at 88,751 for several days.

This does not mean I have writers’ block. It just means that I decided to take a short break from working on the novel. Since there’s no way I’m actually going to finish by the deadline I had set, I decided I could afford to.

That does not mean I have not been busy with my writing. Over the past few days, I have done the following:

1. Made the necessary final revisions for “Resonance,” and mailed them off to Analog today.
2. Polished up three flash stories (stories under 1000 words) and submitted them to Abyss and Apex webzine.
3. Made revisions to “Salt of Judas,” the story I wrote at the Writers of the Future workshop, and submitted it to Realms of Fantasy magazine.
4. Made revisions to “The First Ambassador” and got it ready to mail off to Analog tomorrow.

So tomorrow I will have five stories submitted to markets, which is the most I’ve ever had out at once. And I will return to working on the novel.
