Under the restriction put in place by campaign finance reform and upheld by the Supreme Court, issues ads run during the last few weeks of a campaign cannot identify a candidate.
So I offer the following suggested advertisement to advocacy groups, to use regarding Congressmen who voted for campaign finance reform:
Here’s some information you probably want to know about Congressman BLEEP.
Congressman BLEEP voted [for/against whatever issue.]
But Congressman BLEEP doesn’t like it when people call attention to how he votes.
So Congressman BLEEP voted for a law that made it illegal for us to tell you.
So much for freedom of speech.
Congressman BLEEP. He’s a real piece of BLEEP.
