The first time I went to Hawaii, I went to the USS Arizona memorial and toured the USS Bowfin submarine. This time, I took a tour of the battleship USS Missouri.
Those Crazy Sisters of Mine
Now that my technical issues seem to have been resolved, some more pics from Hawaii.
On New Year’s Eve, my sisters Angela and Carolyn went for a plane ride. The takeoff went smoothly:
Blog email problem
UPDATE: The emails finally went through, a couple of days late.
For some reason, my post with photos from the Polynesian Cultural Center did not go out to the email subscribers to my blog. This post is a test to see whether it’s the email function itself that’s broken.
Update: Looks like the email’s not going out. There may be interference from some new WordPress plugins. I contacted my web host, and apparently they’re experience email sending delays of up to 48 hours. We’ll see if the messages go through eventually.
Polynesian Cultural Center
While in Hawaii, I visited the Polynesian Cultural Center. The center has exhibits focusing on various Polynesian cultures, from Hawaii to New Zealand. It’s a pretty impressive tourist attraction.
I took some photos during the boat parade:
What a finish!
OK, so this is almost a month late, but…

Here’s the announcement about the 2008 Odyssey Writing Workshop. I attended last year, and it was a great experience. I highly recommend it for aspiring writers who can afford the time and money to go.

Back From Hawaii
I’m back from my family vacation in Hawaii. It was great fun to have the whole family together–I miss them already.
Unfortunately, I’m too tired to post more now. I had an overnight flight from Honolulu to Las Vegas, and while I may have dozed of for a few minutes here and there, I did not get much sleep. Then I had a scheduled six-hour layover that became an eight-hour layover due to weather problems in Salt Lake, and the Las Vegas airport is not an easy place to nap.
I’ll have pictures to post eventually.
