Arggggghhhh!

I woke up in the middle of the night and had trouble getting back to sleep, so I decided to get a little work done. As I’m editing a document in Microsoft Word, all of a sudden, with absolutely no warning, Windows Update starts rebooting my computer in order to install updates. It closes Word without asking me if I wanted to save my document. After the reboot, when I open Word, there’s no autosaved version of the document, so all my changes are gone.

That is a ridiculously idiotic way for Windows Update to function, and I’m seriously reconsidering my usually pro-Microsoft attitude.

That might be a bit harsh - like hating a shark because they eat baby seals. A shark is a critter that is optimized for hunting and killing other critters.

Microsoft is what it is - a business that is optimized for selling software.
