X3: Don’t Get Your Hopes Up
I just got back from a midnight showing of the third X-Men movie, and I’m sorry to say it’s not up to the standard set by the first movie, let alone the second.
I enjoyed it, but overall it was unfocused and failed to engage me the way the first two movies did.
The special effects were good enough, and the actors did their part. I’d have to say the major blame lies with the script. The major plotline is based on one of the most powerful comic book story arcs ever written, the Phoenix Saga, but all that remains in this movie is the hollow shell of that story.

Don’t tell me Angela and I saw this movie before you did! We saw it starting at 9:45 pm here in Sydney, Thursday, May 25, almost 23 hours ago now. Because we didn’t know the story, we enjoyed it!
Cheaters.
I enjoyed it while watching it, but overall my impression is one of lost opportunities.
One of these days, I’m going to write up exactly how the movie could have been a lot more satisfying just by making some changes to the battle at the climax, without changing anything before or after that battle.
