Having written

Jerry Pournelle says he has never known anyone other than Isaac Asimov who enjoyed writing. He knows plenty of people who enjoy having written, but not the process of writing.

I guess I would say that there are times when I enjoy the writing itself, but most of the time the writing is something I must do in order to have the satisfaction of having written.

On arriving home from my trip to San Diego, I found a check from Analog for my story “Resonance,” which was accepted a few months ago. Getting paid for having written just makes it that much better.

Compliments are nice…but there is nothing like compliments backed up by cash.

You also can’t spend, or pay tithing, on compliments. Congrats. It’s too bad I can’t write worth beans.

    Sweet!
Hey, by the way, I gave Alexa the two books we have that have your published stories so she could show her class that her uncle is a writer. I think she told them that you wrote a “chapter.” LOL. Anyway, she was very impressed to see your name in print.
