Comments hack

OK, I’ve hacked MovableType 3.0D so that if someone uses the same combination of name, e-mail address and URL (if applicable) that has been used for an approved comment in the past, their comments are automatically approved. That should prevent the comment spam from showing up, while making it convenient for the usual suspects commenters.

That oughta do it.

UPDATE: If anyone is interested in how to do this hack, just ask.

I would love to hear how you did it. Thanks. I can’t even get Typekey to work on my blog. I get an error that says my site hasn’t registered for it yet, which is not the case. Anyway, I would love to hear what you did. A great idea which I’m surprised this isn’t standard for MT.

First, with regard to TypeKey, I ran into the same problem at first, and finally figured out that in your TypeKey account preferences you have to put the URL to your mt-comments.cgi, not your blog. They don’t make that clear at all.

I’ll e-mail you instructions on how to do the hack.

    Whoa.

Typekey worked! Wow, I have tried scouring the MT boards with no luck. So easy too. Hopefully they’ll update the documentation soon.

Thank you so much and I’ll try the hack.
