(Note: I have a more recent blog entry made after I saw the play. You can find that here.)
I got a call this evening from my sister Carolyn, who’s in the first year of her MFA program in Dramatic Arts at the University of San Diego. She said that she had good news and bad news. The bad news was that I wouldn’t get to see her at Christmas-time. The good news was the reason for that: she’s been cast in a major role in a play at the Old Globe Theatre. The play is called Sky Girls.
Can I take a moment to brag about my sister Carolyn? I’ve seen her in several plays, and I think she’s a great actress.
“Sure,” you say, “you think that because she’s your sister. But you watched Hercules and Xena, so you’re obviously not a competent judge of acting.”
“Guilty,” I say. “But it’s not just me who thinks that. The MFA program she’s in is one of the best in the country, and they only let seven students in per year. Obviously she has talent.”
“You are right, Eric,” you say. “She must be good. Forgive me for doubting you.”
“No problem,” I say. “Thanks for following the script.”
