In Memory, in the mail
Sent off my SF short story “In Memory” to the Writers of the Future contest. Not sure how long the response time is. I sent them a story about ten years ago, and I don’t recall how long it took before they rejected it.
Still waiting on a response from the Phobos contest for “The Man Who Moved the Moon.” They announce their winners in mid-October, but I’ve heard they contact the winners before that.
This entry was written in part while under the influence of “Trick of the Night” by Bananarama, off the Greatest Hits Collection album.
That was an awesome game last night. That kicker must be in posession of a great four-leaf clover!
And regarding Chapter Eleven, “Please sir, can we have more?”

I have not had any of my fiction published yet, but I’m working on it. I don’t have any of my stories freely accessible online, as that would be considered publication, and would mean I could not sell “first rights” to the story. I have them in a password-protected area that I allow family and friends to access for the purpose of making comments and suggestions.
As for the problem of having ideas but not actually getting far in writing, I’ve had that problem, too. One of the things that has helped me is taking a creative writing class. It helps to push me to get things done.

I’m going to disagree with your nitpick of my grammar, though.
Fewer than six feet tall?
Fewer than seventy miles per hour?
For units of measurement — particularly if they can be subdivided — it is generally preferable to use “less” instead of “fewer.” The use of “fewer” implies whole numbers:
Fewer than a hundred people (Might be 99, 98, 97, etc., but not 99.5.)
Less than a hundred miles (Might be 99.9.)
Therefore, because the Colts scored with 3:37 left on the clock, “less than four minutes” is appropriate.
That’s cool that you write SF and submit it to contests. Have you ever gotten anything published? Do you write other stuff besides SF? Do you have any stories online for reading? Just curious.
My ultimate career goal is to become a published writer of Young Adult fantasy. Although not your typical fantasy with dragons and wizards, but maybe a bit more creative stuff with magic. I always have all these ideas, and I’ve done a lot of reading and practicing of writing, just not much writing on an actual book. I start and then I get stuck. I know that if I get into a writing project I’m pretty good about finishing, it’s just getting it to the point that I’m comfortable with.
