Just finished watching the final DVD of Sports Night. It’s really too bad it got cancelled after such a short time on the air. As far as I’m concerned, it was one of the best-written sitcoms ever. The dialogue is filled with nitpicking about details and playing around with words. (Hmm. I don’t do that, do I?)
This entry was written in part while under the influence of “How Do I Live [Mr. Mig Remix Club Mix]” by LeAnn Rimes, off the How Do I Live [5 Tracks] album.
Some quotes via IMDB:
[Re: Mount Everest]
Jeremy Goodwin: It’s 29,000 feet.
Elliot: Actually, it’s 29,029 feet.
Dana Whitaker: But it’s that last ten yards that’ll kill ya.
Jeremy Goodwin: How can I best describe this? How many of what kind of thing would we have to lay end to end?
Elliot: Twenty-nine thousand rulers.
Dan Rydell: Would you care to join us in the sport of kings?
Dana Whitaker: We’re gonna race horses?
Dan Rydell: We’re gonna play poker.
Dana Whitaker: That’s not the sport of kings.
Dan Rydell: What’s poker the sport of?
Dana Whitaker: People who play poker.
Dana Whitaker: By the way, in the memos that are circulating we’re spelling Chattanooga about fourteen different ways. Now, what do we know?
Jeremy Goodwin: Two O’s, three A’s.
Dana Whitaker: That’s it?
Jeremy Goodwin: No, there are other letters too. But surely that’s not what you meant.
Casey McCall: It’s a vicious circle.
Dan Rydell: Yep. Just keeps going around and around.
Casey McCall: Never stops.
Dan Rydell: That’s what makes it vicious.
Casey McCall: And a circle.
