50,000

Published on July 5, 2008 by

I just broke 50,000 words.

The little graph shows me at 50%, but I am far, far past the halfway point.  This first draft may manage to hit the 65,000 mark, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

The past couple of weeks the writing has been tough.  I’ve managed to force myself to write at least 500 words each day, but I hadn’t written 1000 in one day for two weeks until two days ago.

The good news is I think I’m about done with the muddle in the middle, and it may be easier from here through the end.

But I wouldn’t bet on that, either.

Congrats on the word count. Hmmm. You and I may be in the same boat with our current novels. Mine is looking to come in well short also, though I can still flex it a little. If you come up with any magic that plumps word count without making the story baggy, let me know. And good luck!
